Could be the apocalypse...oh well. Lots of good whisky out there, and better than having my brains eaten by zombies.

No human being shall own more than a dozen A'bunadhs or the grand spirits may desire for revenge!

I went through this with the Macallan Cask Strength here not long ago...I saw those supplies dwindling down until there was but a pocket of them in Grimsby of all places with a few stragglers spread out....I meant to get on that and bunker a few...but I did not and now they are gone. I now have but ONE bottle on the shelf which I cannot open now :(.....unless they make a return which I don't see anytime soon given what has been going on with Macallan as of late with those Ruby, Sienna et all releases.
I am going to move on the Abunadh as I like that one as well and currently have none on hand!

@mrgargus
How far are you prepared to go? The closest store to you that lists it is Toronto or Woodbridge. If you decide to make such a trek it better be a good batch...

@Nozinan Thought I'd take this opportunity to make my first post count and bring a little one cheer your way. I contacted the LCBO's customer service folks from helloLCBO to enquire into restocking A'Bunadh and here is the reply: "Thank you for contacting helloLCBO about Aberlour A'Bunadh Scotch Whisky,
As you are already aware, Aberlour A'Bunadh Scotch Whisky (LCBO Item# 573352) is available in very limited quantities at this time at select LCBO stores. This is a current LCBO product and we do have another shipment expected to arrive at the end of December".

Just to digress a little, how much water, if any, do you like to add to A'Bunadh? Honestly I LOVE the aroma but am not getting the most enjoyment from the taste as I think I could. For a long pour, say 2 ounces I would add...how many teaspoons of water. I know like most experiments, your results may vary, but does anyone have any good measure that helped them or tidbits? Thanks in advance

3 down and 17 to go..... Which will come first: despair or the next shipment?
@adamh: I like mine neat and with a couple of drops of water. Any water, I find, turns it hotter, but if you then leave it for 15-30 minutes it opens up beautifully.

Down to 14, and only 1 in the City of Toronto! Can it continue? Can Toronto survive the A'Bunadh drought?
10 years ago 0
It's official now. There are no bottles of A'Bunadh for sale in the city of Toronto.
Only 11 bottles in a province of over 10 million people.
The horror.....the horror.....

Surprisingly, there are now 13 bottles listed. Why is that?
Can it be possible that 2 people RETURNED this elixir? For shame!

There is lots of A'bunadh left and no plans to cancel it either at Aberlour or the LCBO. The LCBO merely missed and ordering window...I expect they'll get it right next order opportunity.

And now there are. 6. Half the available stock snatched up within 24 hours.
I understand the reassurances that there will be more, but that won't be any consolation for anyone who is just now draining their bottle and just realizing that they can't get more for now. And after all, not everyone has a 10 year supply like I do, and other affordable sherry bombs to fall back to.
Besides, keeping track is fun. And Whisky, in all it's aspects, should be fun, or there's no point. Even experiencing a bad Whisky and complaining about it should be fun.
And my handle should give you a glimpse of why I would follow the stocks of a dwindling supply.
Back in 2007 the company that makes methotrimeprazine, known to most as NOZINAN, announced that it would stop production of the injectable form. Although an outcry from palliative physicians convinced them to resume production, there was a six month production gap during which we watched as hospitals ran out of the drug. So compared to that, this vigil is a pleasant diversion.
Our friends from the US may not appreciate this story, because it's easier for you to buy Forty Creek Heart of Gold than Nozinan, which is not licensed for use in your country.
Cheers...

Narrow focus, maybe. Not obsession. I'm just following it. It's just the idea that thee are 4 bottles available, 3000 sips, for 10 million people.
Of course there is no Bladnoch (OB) for sale anywhere in North America... But people don't miss what they don't know...

2 bottles left. I wonder if someone is systematically going around and snapping them up...

And then there were none.......
Can you believe it? The world's largest buyer of wine and spirits, in Canada's largest market, Ontario, totally devoid of Aberlour A'Bunadh.
Oh, the humanity...

What's this I see? A single bottle popped up in Burlington, Ontario!
Did someone find it behind some old unsold Flor de Caña rum? Couldn't be...that stuff's too good to stick around too long.
So hope remains....

@Nozinan New shipment at end of December, man! Knowing the LCBO the release will probably be delayed until well into the new year but by that time we'll have paid down our holiday debt.

@AdamH
I'm personally not worried, as long as the distillery is still making this expression. I would much prefer to buy the A'Bunadh outside Ontario where it can be 20% cheaper, or better.
I think it's bad planning on the LCBO's part to let the stock run out.

@Nozinan Dude, that bottle in Burlington was mine.....I returned it. A'Bunadh is good whisky, but a tad overrated. Don't you worry, the LCBO will bring in more and jack up the price. Their releases tend to be cyclical throughout the year. Each year the price jumps. Nothing to loose sleep over. Don't loose sleep over this.....there is plenty of hooch to go around.

@StevieC
What batch was it? I may need to take a trip out west....
HELLO-LCBO indicated that the price (which has been the same since I started buying it in early 2011) will be the same when they get the next shipment in.
It's already so overpriced that I don't know if the market will bear an increase, not when you can get the same batches in the US for somewhere in the $50s.
I can't imagine someone returning a bottle of A'Bunadh. Untasted, I'm sure, because they wouldn't list it for sale if it had been opened. I'd be interested in knowing what brought you to this decision, if you'd like to share
Cheers.

And now there are 5. It's unlikely that 4 more people returned theirs (3to one location), so could it be that the LCBO is rolling out more stock? Time will tell...
10 years ago 0
@Nozinan Really? A'Bunadh for $50 in the US? Please let me know where..I've never seen it for that low. Over a year ago I would see A'Bunadh for $60-69 in the US but now I see it for $79 and up.

THE DROUGHT IS OVER!
7 stores in 5 cities now carrying the nectar, so it probably means the next shipment is being rolled out. I would guess this is batch 46. Question is, should I buy it? And if so, should I try to get it out of province?

I'm sure by now you're familiar with my appreciation for the elixir known as A'Bunadh. While I have a dozen or so stashed away for the apocalypse, I've noted with unease that the LCBO has a dwindling supply that has now reached crisis levels. There are now 25 bottles available for sale in all of Ontario, 2 in Toronto and another 12 in the greater Toronto Area.
I am now monitoring the situation closely, much like the lifeboat commander watches the ship go down, always hoping for a miracle.
Could THIS be the apocalypse? And if so, how long can a dozen A'Bunadhs last? Especially if I'm sharing...
