@Nozinan I look like crap. will try to do some skincare...seriously.I i have a big v shaped itch on my forehead. I'm showering every time I come back from outside. I'm also washing hands and face like crazy. I bought a baby Saz and some Machir Bay today. Money is likely to be low soon. I'd like to dram online sometime. Just not up for it tonight.

Nozinan, I don't know you in IRL, but I like you and appreciate your posts.

I would have loved to have joined you but midday on a Sunday here in NZ I just had too much family stuff going on (yes we're that far ahead here). Hopefully next time aye.

Thanks @casualtorture, @cricklewood, @paddockjudge and @tfahey1298 for coming together for a dram on Zoom today. Picture posted with permission of all in it.

I think this experiment was successful.

I note that zoom has temporarily suspended the 40 minute limit for free accounts. I would encourage you all to set up zoom tastings with Connosrs that are in or near your time zones.

In these troubling times, we may have to distance ourselves, but we should try not to isolate ourselves.

@Nozinan - Big thanks for arranging this and I'm glad it went well! We're just starting to put the youngest to bed on his own and last night wasn't a good one. I'd definitely be up for this again in the future though if it happens!? Your comment about distancing not isolating is spot on!

Re Zoom - I guess all I had to do was follow the link? I had downloaded the app earlier in the day.

I’m sorry I missed this one. My wife organized an impromptu “Comic-Con” yesterday. The actual Comic-Con which was scheduled to happen this weekend in Toronto was (obviously) cancelled, and my 9 year old was pretty disappointed. He doesn’t fully understand what’s happening. We all got dressed in costumes, played family board games, had snacks, etc. I really hope to get in on the next one.

We did the right thing and cancelled our trip to Ireland and Scotland that had been in the planning stages for over a year. No whisky trails for us. However, to past the time during self isolation we took bottles from each region of Scotland as well as from different distilleries and placed them in different rooms of our home. We now have our own whisky trail. Stay safe everyone.

Looks like a good time! Sorry I was unable to attend. Had a work thing come up and it ran longer than expected but with what is going on right now, I expect to have more things pop up from time to time until this situation is resolved.

@TracerBullet We were going to have a dram in Baltimore at some point. Let me know if you would like to plan a drink online. I still have some bottles waiting, assuming the place is open when I go, and I don't blow the bank on hand sanitizer.

Thanks for all your support guys. I’m finally beginning to improve. That really was a crazy journey and far worse than mild flu like symptoms. Thanks again.

Just found out I'm being sent home today to begin work-from-home until this madness is over. I may have to go into the office from time-to-time but they do not want it to be a prolonged visit.

@TracerBullet here in NZ all but 'essential services' have been sent home. I'm a high school teacher and they've brought forward the holidays by 2 weeks which will give us a chance to work out how to work with distance teaching. We are not allowed to go back to school for anything for the next 4 weeks! The country is doing isolation well but when I went for a walk down to the river there were too many people out walking for my liking. I went for a 10 km run yesterday on some lesser used roads instead. Now I'm just spending too much time thinking about, reading about, and watching videos about whisky laughing

Not a bad thing! I work in Public Safety (In IT) so I can be required to go in whenever the need arises although they are trying to keep us home. You all stay safe out there!

Had to venture into work for about half of the day today. Very weird driving to work with the roads almost totally deserted! My team has been holding daily video conferences in the morning to coordinate but honestly, I think it is more to just get to talk to each other. Hope everyone is healthy and keeping (safely) in touch with friends and family!

Every liquor store purchase feels like an existential decision now. I want something peaty, but with wine. I'm thinking Uigeadail or PC 10. I'll see. We are off from work at 4:30.

I make my wife listen to this before we go out. God bless her. "One more chance to get it ll wrong." www.youtube.com/watch

Shit, man, my wife would call that abuse. She just about left me after a Clash episode. She likes ABBA. On the jazz side, she's good with Bill Evans; John Coltrane, not so much.

@BlueNote I need to ask about the Clash episode. Is there a good documentary? I love that band.

@Jonathan I’m not aware of a Clash doc, but there may be one. There’s always Sid and Nancy, the movie if you need a Clash fix. The episode I was referring to was a few years ago when my beloved and I were out on our boat for a 10 day cruise in the Gulf Islands. I forgot to bring my iPod along which has about 6000 songs on it and a bunch of good playlists. All there was on the boat was the Story of the Clash, a double CD; John Coltrane, Live at the Village Vanguard; and something else that she hated. These were CDs I left on the boat for when I was out at the marina doing maintenance stuff and getting out of the house. I could crank it up and nobody was telling me to turn it down. Anyway, by about day 5 of this little cruise, she was threatening that if she had to hear Guns of Brixton, or Rock the Casbah one more time, she was getting in the dinghy and going home. Believe me, I never forgot the iPod again. BTW, the name of the boat was Blue Note.

@talexander Managed to get a download of the Joe Stummer film. Only problem is the commentary is in Russian. I’ll keep trying.

Meanwhile, RIP John Prine. Another victim of Covid-19.
