Brachadair is a Belgian bottler that I have already tasted delicious stuff from. In 2005, quite a while ago, it's true – he bottled a 13-year-old Highland Park for the Belgian whisky club Crann.

Good nose! Delicious grassy notes with a lot of heather, vanilla and honey, but also some mandarins and pineapples. In the background I get some banana and peach and a hint of frangipane. This is very tasty, mind you.

The alcohol gives you a kick against your teeth, that much is certain. The saliva glands need to get to work. But once the fire is put out, I am treated to a complex HP with a lot of fruit – almost tropical – with vanilla ice cream, a dash of smoke and some herbal notes. Ah, how good.

The finish starts fruity and softly smoky, then becomes very spicy for a while before leaving your mouth dry. A feast!

Lovely Highland Park, but not for web blankets. It can handle water, but I like it best without. Thanks for the sample, Mathias!
