Looks like the Forty Creek 22 year Rye will be a lottery bottle next weekend

You would think that a province-wide liquor store would have the same bottles listed on all platforms. The LCBO has at least 3 and they are all different.

For instance, as Odyddeus pointed out, RED SPOT is listed on the app but not at LCBO.com.

Go figure...

And.... now it's listed. So inconsistent...

Idk if anyone’s seen this yet. I don’t want to pay for shipping from Hiram Walker to my place. But I haven’t found it on the LCBO website yet. And while the good Doc says they’ll be selling it, you can almost guarantee that the LCBO will fuck it up somehow.

@OdysseusUnbound Shipping is not bad. I just added 50 bottles to my cart (before @paddockjudge gets to it, and shipping is only $91.75. That's less than 2 dollars a bottle, and I can share with anyone who wants some.

But it's $20 for 5 bottles, so the cost goes up by $4 a bottle.

Anyone who wants 1 bottle pays $15.27 extra.

Do you think these are old warehouse bottles or a new batch?

@SKEPTIC I was wondering the same thing. The label from Don's photo looks slightly different to my eyes but could be just my impression

@OdysseusUnbound I think I will wait for this to hit the LCBO. I doubt they could F up this online or stocking the shelves. Not like it is a BTAC bottle. Was all set to order a couple but I will hold off until it hits the stores.

I did hear today (rumor) that the ADL special bottle you mentioned months ago is due to be released in a month or so. (20 year). No idea if it an Alberta only or Canada wide, or ABV info (please be cask strength)

@Nozinan I was all set to order a couple, but I’ll take my chances with LCBO free shipping.

@Astroke, I hope the 20 Year old juice is already bottled.... about five years ago there was a similar rumour, until word of a stray forklift piercing the bottom of a holding tank deflated our dreams of Alberta long-aged rye (and not Pendleton’s) once again filling our glasses.

I’m up for this one!

@Astroke Update. Apparently the Good Whisky Doc has updated the Instagram world that the LCBO will probably not be getting any. It's selling really quickly through the link on his Twitter/Instagram. That said, the LCBO is so incompetent that they may already have received a shipment and simply not be aware of it.

@cricklewood my 2 bottles arrived today, definitely old stock. Codes on the back are the same as the one I had stashed from a yer or so ago.

@Astroke, that was one of the last runs for Legacy, perhaps the last....I'm sipping some now. I've never seen L14......that was around the time the malted Lot 40 was discontinued.....the question that comes to mind is, "were Lot 40 CS releases 100% unmalted rye?"

@paddockjudge Unkown, but I am having my first pour of Legacy in about 6 months and will follow with a Dissertation pour. Nothing like scoring some backups of discontinued Whisky. If only I could snag a Danfields 21 backup.

Ohhhh here's a good one. Nikka From the Barrel is prominently featured on their website - cool! So is Ichiro's Malt & Grain. So I order online, one of each. I soon get an email confirming my Ichiro's arrived at the store, but the Nikka From the Barrel is out of stock (despite the fact that the website said it was in stock).

So I just ordered another Nikka online. A couple days later, I get an email that my order has been cancelled. No reason given. Brilliant, guys. Brilliant.

@talexander The lengths we have to go to, just to get some damned Ben Nevis, er I mean Nikka from the Barrel, in this province!! stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

@OdysseusUnbound BC Liquor Stores are completely uncontaminated by Ben Nevis too. All I want is the Ten for crying out loud. Is that too much to ask? angry

@OdysseusUnbound I read this article before - it doesn't say that Nikka blends are mostly Ben Nevis. It does say though that it is used in many Japanese whiskies. So more proof is needed! (actually, more proof is always needed, get it????)

@OdysseusUnbound

@talexander Irrefutable proof is hard to come by, but there is plenty of Ben Nevis that gets shipped to Japan. And they are owned by Nikka.....who knows, right?

Come to think of it “Irrefutable Proof” would be a great name for a Cask Strength bottling of “Japanese” whisky.
