Phew!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a long time coming. felt like I'd attended therapy last night and had one of those 'breakthrough' moments ha ha! Tense doesn't do it justice . . . it was enjoyed with some 1792 bourbon and for the first time (as it's mega hot here) with a small chunk of ice - nice!

@Hewie Like being stuck in the middle of the Thai countryside trying to explain where I'm from (with the not-so-helpful Google translator on the iphone) and going "no, not where they make the chocolate and watches, that's SWITzerland..." eh.... Scanidinavia..? Santa's grotto? Polar bears.....??

Until finally, we found the one aspect that never failed: SLATAN! Yes! That's the one! I'm from "Slatan land, yes!"

Hmmm, an England France final. That would be interesting, could even be a bit nasty. Cask strength and peat all the way for that one.

I personally would love to see a England - France final. Head butts and Yellow cards galore. It truly has been a odd world cup final.

@Lars, we are riding the same horse this time around....I love an underdog! Many English fans dubbed this side the "B-Team". I would wager a bet they are all on the bandwagon now. lol Could this be the year for a second gold star above the Coat of Arms?

@Lars - You and me both as (whisper this so @markjedi doesn't hear) I don't fancy Belgium . . .

To be fair them and France are the best two teams but as you say you just never know with this WC. Croatia to win then?

The Croation community is very proud and strong in my home town. There will be one hell of a party at the Croation Hall..........win or lose........it will last two days if they win.

@BlueNote @paddockjudge - Well, that was disappointing but this England team have exceeded expectations really and as a nation we're pretty proud of a young exciting team and manager. I think France will win but I hope Croatia do - would be great for a relatively small nation and I holidayed there (well it was Yugoslavia then) as a kid and loved it; the people were very friendly and I remember they loved their football.

If only we'd took our chances . . . I'm nonplussed about the playoff as it's just a glorified friendly with two dejected teams - bah humbug

@RianC Yes, but you don’t want@markjedi1 gloating for days on end. That could drive a person to drink (not Belgian beer, though).

Hahaha, loved all the above comments, but there will be no MMM World Cup Malt, that's for sure. Now… I think the playoff for third place between Belgium and England might in fact be quite spectacular, although I do believe we will once more kick the Three Lions' backsides. Matchday tomorrow, we'll see (writing from Villes-sur-Auzon in France, where people are really going nuts of the final).
