This is a litre bottle purchased from an airport. It’s pale gold in colour and the bottle proudly displays it’s triple distilled credentials. I’m a late comer to Irish whiskey and Jameson’s, but have been impressed with the standard Jameson’s Irish whiskey. This expression is markedly different though, a much richer and sweeter offering in an after diner style.
The nose is instantly recognisable with the pot still whiff, but after that cloves and fruit are the main themes. Apples, pears and peaches with a touch of spice thrown in. The mouth feel is full bodied and the taste is rich and sweet of fruit cake with cloves again. The finish is a bit short, probably due to being only 40%, and the only blemish on what is a well balanced blend.
