Went to my local retailer to pick up a bottle of the Compass Box Great King Street Artist's Blend. Saw a bottle of Bruichladdich Black Art 3 and Octomore 5.1. Bought all three and spent a little bit more than expected. Ah well.

I just got my peat stained hands on both Caol Ila Distillers and Talisker Distillers. The decision will be tough but I'm sure either will do the job.

I will be opening a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon (which I've tried but never owned). I'm off to a cottage for the long weekend with some folks and I wanted to bring something to share and that other people could mix if they wanted without giving me an anyuerism...

Yeah I understand that cpstecroix or at least making a proper bourbon based cocktail that doesn't obliterate the bourbon base anyways I bought a few minis Dewars white, J.W. Black, and Woodford Reserve, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. I'll be writing the reviews up here shortly

Kid at the candy store feeling from picking up some bottles I preordered for my visit to Los Angeles this weekend. WA prices are almost too crazy to buy there at all (20.5% tax!). Browsed a few stores, and trying to figure out what else we can fit in the luggage. So far on the list: Old Pultney 12 & 17 gift pack (1/2 bottles), Longrow CV, Laphroaig Cairdeas (this year's), Connemara peated or cask strength. Thoughts?

@EvaRees, the Connemara Peated is good, and quite peated usually, but I do prefer the Cask Strength. The weird one in that family is the Connemara 12 yo,...it is by far the least peaty of the three. I am not quite sure what happened there...

@EvaRees, you know, it is a nice list and I don't think you can go very wrong, plus you have a lot of Bruichladdich, but,...no Octomore?

I've made a few attempts at purchasing The Balvenie 21 yr Portwood via ebay with no luck...I shall try again!

Next bottle I open: could be the Taketsuru 21Year Old. Next one I purchase? Going to look for a Blue Hangar whilst in Calgary later in September...

@T4sho3 - I am opening a blend created by Brian Kinsman, Malt Master at Glenfiddich. This is a Canadian whisky, a 2012 release bottled as Gibson's Finest 100th Grey Cup Limited Edition. William Grant and Son's owns Gibson's as well as Glenfiddich and Balvenie. Cheers! pj

Just went on a spending spree and picked up the following:
Octomore 4.2 Comus - First of the Octomore's I've tried that justifies the price tag, in my opinion. Either that or I have more disposable income these days. :)
Talisker 1992 Distiller's Edition - I have I tiny bit left from the 1995 batch that I found myself liking more and more the deeper into the bottle I got. Looking forward to comparing the two.
Kilchoman Sherry Cask Release - Mixed reviews on this young whisky, but my curiosity got the best of me. And I like what this distillery is all about, so I wanna support them when I can. Anyone out there tried this yet? Would love to hear from you.
Springbank Rundlets & Kilderkins - Not a lot out there as far as reviews go. Very curious about this one, as they are taking the same small-cask approach as Laphroaig Quarter Cask. I love Quarter Cask and love Springbank... so I'm optimistic about the results here. Anyone tried this?
...and finally... picked up a bottle of Old Pulteney 17 which--to bring me to the second part of the topic question--is the next bottle I intend to open.
In fact... I will do it right now.......
Mmm... this is quickly moving into the ranks of my favourites.

@talexander Ha! Good to know. I kinda figured it was a bit of a can't lose situation. :)

@talexander - it does not taste like anything Gibson's. With the bottle open barely an hour - no mistaking it for a rye as i pour one - brown sugar and the entire baking spice rack. to the taste, creamy, slight heat as it leaves the tongue - only a hint of maple syrup - dry wood, dry mouth. Finish is longer than most Canadians and the heat stays on the tip of the tongue...this unique flavor is what the Angel's seek in their share. I must say it is very nice whisky for the price. $35.

After these 2 I will have to calm down on my whisky purchase frenzy... Latest two are the Laphroaig Tripple Wood and the 2010 bottling of Lagavulin 12 yo.

A couple bottles of J.W. Green, one to save and the other to enjoy and review especially before the price gets out of my range. Im glad my liquor store is in a college town (all the good stuff isn't bought up)

I failed at calming down on my single malt frenzy, just ordered a Lagavulin 1995 Destillers Edition and a Port Charlotte: The Peat Project... but after these 2 I will not buy more for at least a few weeks!

Headed to Binny's this weekend. Compass Box Spice Tree is a definite, and probably at least two or three more. Maybe Auchentoshan Valinch, Clynelish 14 yo, Longrow CV...maybe even a Black Bull or a good bourbon.

@WhiskyBee That's just creepy, I'll be very soon picking up Valinch, Clynelish 14 and I've just got a Longrow CV on the way! The Spice Tree is also one of the best drams I've ever had and rate it very highly.

Tonight ill be opening a Lagavulin 16,my first lagavulin ever, don t blame me after all this time but here in quebec i can get Laphroaig qc at 60$ or talisker for 70$ then Lagavulin is 105$,my choice of whisky often depend on my budget...

@systemdown, if you look in the mirror, see my face, and hear Rod Serling intone, "Witness if you will...," that's when it'll get really creepy!
Wound up picking up the Spice Tree and the Clynelish.. Decided I wanted to replenish my Laphroaig Quater Cask supply, rather than picking up a third new one. The Auchentoshan and the Longrow will have to wait until the next paycheck.
Posted a review of the Clynelish today. The Spice Tree needs a little more thought -- although my first impressions are very positive.
