“With no disrespect to Islay we didn’t want to produce a big peaty Islay style whisky. We wanted something with the phenols coming through but retaining the sweetness, softness and the malt’s spiciness. The idea was to create a peated whisky which nodded to the Highlands and to the west coast, but was still unique to here.” Distillery Manager Keith Cruickshank

  • Nose: peaty, complex, fruity, malty vanilla, grassy, malty

  • Pallet: starts sweet, but the peat builds, very aromatic peat not heavily phenolic, more notes from the nose come through then the peat takes over into the finish.

  • Finish: peat at first, once that starts to fade, it ends malty and nutty, good length

  • Mark neat – 8.6

i really enjoy how the peat build in this whisky, its not a laphroaig hammer, its no smoke stack like ardbeg it just builds and builds, allowing you to get some more subtle flavours then crescendo-ing into the peat, then it all fades away and the sprit leaves the lasting impression.
