Having been on something of a buying frenzy for a couple of months, I'll have to wait until November to expand the ol' cabinet. Or so says the family accountant (to whom I'm married).

Before Turkey Day, however, I plan on acquiring at least two of the following: Ardbeg Galileo (if there's any left at Binny's by then), Balblair 1989, Bowmore 10 yo Tempest, or Glenfiddich Malt Masters Edition. Or I may just save up until after Christmas for that Brora 30 yo I've been wanting for some time.

I'll purchase another W/T 101 Rye and I have one opened and 'Oh Boy', is it good! - & it's on special at a decent (for Aust.) price of Au.$49.95 and they have plenty of stock, at my local Dan Murphy.

Cheers!

I know it is about an hour away but Warehouse Liquors in Chicago have a good few Galileos left and a few different releases of the Brora. @WhiskyBee

Thanks, @Sroberts86. I haven't tried Warehouse yet. According to their website, they've also got a couple of hard-to-find Ardbegs on sale, although I get the impression they haven't updated their site in a while. Even though parking in Chicago costs as much as a Brora these days, I think I'll have to check it out eventually.

To be honest it is incredible and while in binnys you might buy something in warehouse you will learn something. Quite a few rare everythings to be honest, great place. @WhiskyBee

Picked up a couple Ardbegs over the last week. Master of Malt has put out their own bottling of an 18yo Single Cask Ardbeg that I'm very excited about as well as one from a new bottling company - Boutique-y Whisky Company. I also found somebody selling Ardbeg Galileo, whose story was interesting enough to warrant the splurge. Wife won't be happy when the mailman starts bringing those big rectangular boxes that she'll have to sign for...

Probably the Kilchoman Spring 2011 will be the next bottle I'll open. I wait for an occasion to sip it with my brother who love peated whiskies.

Hi guys, been mostly a lurker the last year or so and wanted to say hello. Next purchase will be Highland Park 18. I love HP 12 and have been waiting to buy HP 18 for a while. Really looking forward to this one.

@teebone673 Hello my friend! Welcome to the party! It's the morning for me so sadly it's just a wee bit early to start opening bottles, but I get a sneaky suspicion that my next bottle to open is going to be Western Australia's first bourbon which comes in about 3 weeks to my door!

Probably an Ardmore NAS @ 46% ABV. This is an attractive and affordable Whisky - Au.$66.95 from Dan Murphy - I will look at the 25yo. Highland Park 48.1% and sigh!

Slainte!

Trying to decide what I should do...Aberlour 18 yr, or Oban 18 yr, or both?

Decisions - decisions...

Oh...In addition to the Aberlour 18 yr, and Oban 18 yr - there's also the Lagavulin 12 yr...

Anyone wanna throw in their $0.02 on any of these malts?

@FMichael - Not having tried any of them before, but being a huge fan of other Aberlour expressions, I'd say open the Aberlour 18...

@YakLord Aberlour 18 yr may seem the safest bet; it has more reviews here by members than the other 2 (just about everyone has given the Aberlour 18 yr high marks)...Being a fan of the Aberlour range - I too am leaning this way.

@FMichael: All three are fine Whiskies! My Wife and I have a fondness for the Lagavulin 12yo. Cask Strength. "...and it's 'the best thing since sliced bread', mate". She says. If you havn't tried the Laga. Cask, it is one not to be missed: I don't think you will be disappointed!

One of our neighbours had a rather famous Samaroli bottling of a Springbank 12yo cask which we put up against a Lagavulin Cask with no clearcut winner; if anything, the Laga. was crisper with just a little more going on - They were both very fine Whiskies!

Good Luck!

Well...Made my decision/purchase...Went in a bit of a different direction, and purchased 2 bottles of Lagavulin 12 yr 2011 release, and 2 bottles Talisker Distillers Edition 2000.

I'll let ya all know what I think when I get'em.

Had some birthday cash so I purchased Lagavulin 16, Glenmorangie 'quinta ruban' and Ardbeg 10. I decided to open the Ardbeg first. It was all i imagined plus more, loved the smoke and briney/salty taste! I also was lucky enough to get an Auchentoshan '3 wood' as a gift! The collection is definitely coming along

I went to another tasting last night, hosted by Anthony Wills, Founder of Kilchoman, and Ed Kohl, ambassador for impex , the US importer for Arran and Kilchoman whiskies. Ed let us sample the Arran range of Single Malts, and Mr. Wills poured drams of Machir Bay and a special exclusive single cask bottling.

I ended up selecting Arran's 14 year old to take home. I also wanted a bottle of Kilchoman's 100% Islay, but the store hosting the event didn't get their shipment in time for the tasting.

On a whim, I also picked up a bottle of Tobermory 10 year old, and just noticed Ralfy's latest Vlog reviewed this very malt, and gives it a very respectable 86/100 score. I guess Tobermory has made some improvements to this expression since most of the reviews here were written.
