Opening Ardbeg Corryvreckan this coming weekend. The next purchase will be on the monthly whisky run of five to six hundred miles and will definitely be a bottle of Corryvreckan, to back up the freshly opened treasure.

@systemdown - id be very interested for you to post some in-depth reviews if you happen to get any number of those australian whiskies!

@Chookster I will most certainly be posting in-depth reviews. I actually have quite a backlog to post. I have more time now to do those write-ups from my notes so stay tuned.

@systemdown - excellent, I look forward to it.
To contribute to the topic I should add im next going to purchase the heartwood convict unchained bottled at 71.9%!

@Chookster The Convicts probably won't be available much longer.. I hope to snag one more before they're totally gone. A real piece of Aussie whisky history, that. Of course, I fully intend to drink mine. I would just feel better with 2 bottles.

@systemdown - all that matters to me is they last a few weeks to my next pay-day.. 1 to drink is enough for me at $200 per.

@Chookster I think it'll be well worth it going on the notes and reactions I've seen to date. If you miss out - I'd be more than happy to share.

@systemdown Are you going to be grabbing a bottle of Velvet Hammer?! I've already got some feelers out to snag me a bottle as soon as it hits the market!!!

@SquidgyAsh I'm not sure mate.. would love to of course, but depends on my whisky budget. I won't be rushing to grab it as it's not near the top of my current "next buy" list - kinda more interested in the "Vat Out of Hell" though!

Just secured a bottle of Black Arts III and another Yamazaki 18 this weekend. If anyone knows (through personal experience) any reason to pass on the Bruichladdich Black Arts, please, for the love of god, let me know (200.00 - Ouch!!!).

@Onibubba well, it's just my preference, but I didn't enjoy the BA2, way too much on the wine end of things for me. Others liked it after it opened for a bit, but I exchanged my bottle as it wasn't worth what they were charging. Ymmv of course.

I ended up opening a couple bottles the other day. Hibiki 12, Pendleton 1910 and a 1991 WT Rare Breed.

I'm on the lookout for the new Balvenie 12 yr Single Barrel. I love the 15 yr Single Barrel and am looking forward to trying this new one.

@teebone673 I had it last month and was not impressed. I was excited as well but ended up putting the bottle back on the shelf after trying a sample.

@Bourbondork thanks for the info, man. I may hold off on this one for a while as I love the 15 yr SB. Not to mention it is priced only a few bucks less than the 15. Thanks again for the tip.

@teebone673 Good call on pointing out the price difference, makes the value proposition that much harder. I've liked all the Balvenie's I've had to date with the exception of this one. Taste being subjective, it could be my palate was off, etc. If given the opportunity, I would sample again just to see if my initial impressions match up.

Onibubba, i too saw the BA3 and was considering a purchase, but even at $166, was hard to swallow at that price. (no pun intended). How do you like the BA3? I also just bought the Laga 2012 DE and will open this coming weekend while BBQ. Will be my first Laga taste so will see what all the hubbub is about. I do like the Talisker 18 and sometimes the Ardbeg Corry.

@alteredstate Actually, I passed on the BA3. Saw where I could get it cheaper online (166 also). So I just bought the Yamazki and, coincidentally, a Laga DE.

I picked up a bottle of Glen Moray 12 year old, on an impulse buy! At the price ($30US), even if it's just average, it's a good deal!

I have been gone for a while, moved to New York, but now I'm back and ready to talk whisky. I have recently purchased another Johnnie Walker King George V, Ardbeg Galileo, Highland Park 18 and the Dalmore King Alexander lll. I will be purchasing in the near future the Longmorn 30yo, Battlehill Bowmore 28 (from Total Wine) and my favorite Balvenie 21yo Portwood
