Teachers Highland Cream

Smokey malt in a blend Teachers Highland Cream

The best blend I've had so far. It has some smoke which is commendable for a cheap blend. Super smooth, to its detriment in a way. But for this price you can't complain.

Old Pulteney 12 Year Old

Salt in a glass Old Pulteney 12 Year Old

The only whisky I ever tried that I didn't like. Too much salt not enough love. Maybe it's just me but I really didn't get on with this. It's so far from whisky heaven which is where I want to be.

Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak

"Sherry" Picked Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak

When I had my first SMSW tasting, one of the expressions was The Macallan 12 Fine Oak. Not overly impressed (because the tasting was accompanied by an HP18 that overshadowed everything else), the Fine…

WooddooW Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood

This was my second bottle of Scotch I bought. The decision to go with the Balvenie 12DW was for the simple reasoning that, unlike my first bottle (HP12) I wanted to try an expression without a peaty…

Jim Beam Black Label

Beam, Bum or a Bomb? Jim Beam Black Label

Ahh, Jim Beam Black Label. My first bottle of Bourbon purchased with a "mature" palate. As I started this whisk(e)y journey with Scotch, I became curious of what was in my "backyard". Kentucky is famous…

Highland Park 18 Year Old

The 16 yr old could be better... Highland Park 18 Year Old

No doubt about it the HP 18 is a great whisky...rich, flavorsome malty and sweet, but after trying the 16 year old I think I actually prefer the younger stable mate. It's slightly smoother with a goss…
