Independent bottlers, Douglas Laing, have expanded their Remarkable Regional Malts range with a pair of limited editions – Rock Oyster 18 Year Old & Timorous Beastie 18 Year Old.

The handsomely packaged whiskies are bottled without chill-filtration at 46.8% ABV. Rock Oyster and Timorous Beastie already exist as no age statement expressions in the Douglas Laing range but these 18 year old releases represent a step up in quality.

Timorous Beastie 18 Year Old is a blend of highland malts named after the field mouse in Robert Burns ode “To a Mouse”. The official tasting notes say it has gentle spices with notes of vanilla, honey and juicy barley.

Rock Oyster 18 Year Old is a blend of island malts from Islay, Jura, Arran and Orkney. This whisky is promised to have a maritime character with rich sea flavours, tobacco and sweet peat.

Fred Laing, Douglas Laing’s Managing Director says of the whiskies, "The launch of this pair of feisty yet mature teenagers is an exciting development for Douglas Laing. Joining our recently-launched Scallywag 13 Years Old, our Remarkable Regional Malts range is expanding and growing up, delivering a comprehensive and dynamic range of credible yet fun Scotch Whiskies for the specialist retail channel".

Both whiskies are un-coloured and are available though all the usual retailers.
